How to do it

  1. Open PDF to Word.
  2. Choose your PDF. The conversion happens in your browser; the file isn't uploaded.
  3. Download the .docx and open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, WPS or LibreOffice.

What converts well

PDFs created from Word, Google Docs or other software contain real text, so the words, paragraphs and basic formatting come across cleanly. Simple tables and headings usually survive well.

What needs extra work

  • Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages, not text. Run them through Image to Text (OCR) first to get editable text.
  • Complex magazine layouts with many columns and floating images may need some tidying in Word.
  • Unusual fonts are replaced with similar fonts installed on your computer.

Only need part of the PDF?

Use Split PDF to extract the pages you need first. Smaller files convert faster and give cleaner documents. If you only need the plain words, PDF to Text is the quickest option.

Tip: When you're done editing, use Word to PDF to turn the document back into a PDF for sending.
