About this Watermark PDF tool
A watermark tells everyone how a document should be treated, and discourages people from passing it off as their own. Use it to mark drafts, label confidential reports, put your company name on price lists, or add “Copy for John Smith” to documents you share.
Place the text once in the middle of the page, repeat it across the whole page so it can't be cropped out, or add it as a discreet footer.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add CONFIDENTIAL to every page of a PDF?
Type CONFIDENTIAL, choose “Once, in the centre” or “Repeated across the page”, and click Add watermark. All pages are stamped unless you enter specific pages.
Can I make the watermark transparent?
Yes. Use the opacity slider. 15–30% keeps the text underneath easy to read.
Can people remove the watermark?
The watermark is added to the page content. Someone with PDF editing software could still remove it; for stronger protection, combine it with Protect PDF.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Type page numbers such as 1-3, 7 in the Pages box.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The watermark is added in your browser.
