About this Protect PDF tool
Bank statements, payslips, medical letters and contracts often travel by email, where they can be forwarded or intercepted. Adding a password means the file is useless to anyone who doesn't have it. This tool encrypts your PDF with a password you choose and can also block editing and copying of text, while still allowing printing.
Encryption happens in your browser. Your document and your password are never sent anywhere.
How to use Protect PDF

Tips for a good PDF password
- Use at least 8 characters, mixing words and numbers. A short phrase is easy to remember and hard to guess.
- Send the password through a different channel from the file, for example by text message rather than in the same email.
- Keep a note of it. If you forget the password, the file cannot be recovered.
