About this PDF to Word tool

PDFs are made for reading, not editing. When you need to update a CV, fix a typo in a report or reuse text from a document, converting it to Word is the quickest route. This converter reads the text on every page, works out where lines belong to the same paragraph, detects headings by font size, and writes a clean .docx file.

Two modes are available. Editable text gives you a normal Word document you can type in. Exact look places each page as a picture in Word, which keeps the layout perfectly but cannot be edited. Choose the one that matches your goal.

How to use PDF to Word

  1. Choose or drop your PDF.
  2. Pick Editable text (recommended) or Exact look.
  3. Click Convert to Word.
  4. Open the downloaded .docx file in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.

Features

Editable paragraphs

Lines are joined into real paragraphs, and hyphenated words at line ends are repaired.

Headings detected

Larger text becomes Word headings, so the navigation pane works.

Page breaks kept

Each PDF page can start on a new Word page.

Private conversion

The PDF is read in your browser and never uploaded.

What converts well, and what doesn't

Text-based PDFs (created from Word, Google Docs or other software) convert best. Complex layouts with many columns, tables or text boxes will keep all their text, but the positioning may need some tidying in Word.

Scanned PDFs are pictures of paper pages and contain no text that can be extracted. The tool will warn you when this happens. Use Exact look mode, or PDF to JPG to get the page images.

Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF to Word converter free?

Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, watermark or daily limit.

Will the formatting be exactly the same?

In “Editable text” mode the text, paragraphs and headings are preserved, but exact positions, fonts and tables may differ from the PDF. If you need an identical look and do not need to edit, use “Exact look” mode.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Scanned PDFs contain images of text, not text itself, so they need OCR (optical character recognition), which this tool does not perform. You can still use “Exact look” mode to put the pages into Word as pictures.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your document stays on your device.

Which Word versions can open the file?

The .docx file opens in Microsoft Word 2007 and later, Word for Mac, Word Online, Google Docs, Apple Pages and LibreOffice.
