About this Rotate Video tool

Phones decide the orientation when you start recording, so it's easy to end up with a sideways video. Some players fix it on the fly, but many apps and TVs don't.

This tool actually rotates the picture and re-encodes it, so the video plays the right way up in every app, not just on your phone.

How to use Rotate Video

  1. Choose or drop the video.
  2. Pick 90° right, 180° or 90° left; the preview turns with your choice.
  3. Optionally tick Mirror.
  4. Click Rotate video and download.

Good to know

  • Works in up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers and Android. iPhones with iOS 17 or newer work too.
  • Files up to about 1 GB work well on most computers. Phones handle shorter clips best.
  • Only edit videos you own or have permission to use.

Frequently asked questions

Will the video lose quality?

Re-encoding uses high quality settings, so the difference is hard to see.

Can I rotate an iPhone video?

Yes, MOV files are supported.

How long does it take?

About as long as the video plays, often faster.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The whole job runs inside your browser using your device's built-in video encoder, so the video never leaves your device.
