How to convert iPhone MOV videos to MP4
iPhones save videos as .MOV files, usually with HEVC (H.265) video. That's efficient, but older Windows PCs, some Android phones, video editors and upload forms either can't open them or show only sound.

Open MOV to MP4 →Convert in seconds
- Copy the video to your computer, or open the tool directly on your iPhone in Safari.
- Open MOV to MP4 and choose the video.
- Click Convert video. In most cases the video is copied into an MP4 container without re-encoding, so it finishes in seconds and the quality is identical.
Still won't play? Re-encode to H.264
If the MP4 plays sound but no picture on a Windows PC, the computer lacks an HEVC decoder. Tick Re-encode the video before converting. The tool creates an H.264 MP4, the format every device and website supports.
Stop the problem at the source
On your iPhone go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New videos are then recorded as H.264 and photos as JPG instead of HEIC. Existing HEIC photos can be converted with HEIC to JPG.
Make it smaller too
If you're sharing the video, run the MP4 through Compress Video to cut the size by 60–90%.
