The usual specifications

  • Size: 35 mm wide × 45 mm high.
  • Background: plain white, with no shadows or patterns.
  • Framing: head and top of the shoulders, with the face filling most of the frame (around 70–80%).
  • Recent: taken within the last six months, with a neutral expression and both eyes open.
Important: for a new passport or CNIC, the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports and NADRA take your photo at their office. The photo you make at home is for other uses: visa and embassy forms, job and university applications, and documents that ask you to attach a passport-size photo. Always check the latest official instructions for your application.

How to make it at home

  1. Take the photo against a white wall in daylight, at eye level.
  2. Open Passport Photo Maker and choose Pakistan passport / CNIC (35×45 mm).
  3. Drag and zoom until your face fits the oval and your eyes are near the line.
  4. Click Make passport photo. You get a single photo for online forms and a print sheet.

Printing

Take the 4×6 inch print sheet to any photo studio, or print it at home on 4×6 photo paper at actual size (not "fit to page"). Cut along the grey lines to get several copies for a few rupees.

For online forms

If a portal limits the photo to a size in KB, run the single photo through Compress Image to KB. Our guide on photo sizes for FPSC, PPSC and NTS explains this step in detail.
